Principle Investigator, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University

Dr. Ouyang is a Principle Investigator at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University. She completed a B.Sc. in biology and Ph.D. in physiology at China Agricultural University, and two postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School and University of California, San Diego. Dr. Ouyang focuses on cell fate control of adult stem cells and regenerative medicine.  Her work is supported by National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, National Key Research and Development Project (Stem cell and translational research), and Guangdong Science and Technology Program (Precision medicine and stem cell project). She has made important progress in stem cell-based therapy of ocular diseases, including the reconstruction of functional cornea using reprogrammed skin cells, and the regeneration of lens by activating endogenous stem cells (Eight breakthroughs in life sciences selected by Nature Medicine in 2016).
