Dr. Harry Shum is an expert on computer vision and computer graphics. He currently serves as Council Chairman of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Shum was previously Executive Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, responsible for driving the company’s overall AI strategy and forward-looking research and development efforts spanning infrastructure, services, apps and agents. He also led Microsoft Research, one of the world’s premier computer science research labs.

Dr. Shum is one of the founding members of Microsoft Research China (later renamed Microsoft Research Asia) and served as Managing Director and Chief Scientist of the research institute, helping to cultivate many world-leading computer scientists, tech experts and entrepreneurs.
