Lecturer Profiles

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has a profound impact on human society, and is gradually changing the research paradigm of many disciplines. In many fields of scientific computing, the mechanism of the problem to be solved is not clear, or although the problem has a clear mechanism, it is difficult to solve the traditional algorithm because it is too complex. AI technology, especially machine learning and reinforcement learning methods, computationally model the problems based on the data generated by experiments or calculations, so as to get effective solutions to complex problems, which has had a great impact on the research paradigm in the field of scientific computing. At the same time, the internal mechanism, mathematical theory and basic algorithm of AI represented by deep learning are not clear and perfect, and the robustness and accuracy of AI methods are lack of strict mathematical demonstration, which seriously hinders its further development. However, the way of thinking combined with mechanism may provide new insights and research approaches for data oriented AI technology. The combination of AI and scientific computing is bound to promote the common development of both fields.
This webinar brings together interdisciplinary scholars in the fields of computational mathematics, scientific computing and ultra large scale computing to conduct frontier discussions from the perspectives of "AI for scientific computing" and "scientific computing for AI", with a view to creating sparks of innovative ideas.
